Jose' was born and raised in Oaxaca, working with his father gathering the handicrafts from the neighboring villages and delivering them to shops down town. Many of the famous artists today in the Oaxaca region were Jose's playmates as a child.
As a young man he went to the United States and worked 2 years as a driver in Los Angeles before returning to Oaxaca to marry, and eventually work in his Father-in-law's taxi business. After many years of experience he was able to work his way up to elite blue taxi service with one of only 2 Nissan Sentra's in the state. (He had the first). The comfortable ride and airconditioning in his taxi will be much appreciated during your journey. Email or text him today for a quote to explore Oaxaca!

REVIEWS:
(2018) Tim & Eric from NJ: It has been a lifetime dream to visit Oaxaca and meet the artists of the surrounding areas. Jose' was amazing. Such a kind person and very safe driver. I pre-selected artists who are known internationally and we saw all of their studios. Jose' actually knew many of them since childhood so we were able to meet quite a few and get first hand knowledge of their work. As an art teacher (Eric) I'll be able to use this information in my classroom. We did 2 full-day trips with Jose'. It was VERY reasonable (about $100USD per day) and we learned far more than we could have on some hotel-made tour with 10, 20, or 30 other people.
Tripadvisor Reviews:
(2015) EPTeach from TX: ..."He is also an excellent tour guide! We spent two days with him visiting ruins and wonderful black pottery and textile factories. He is really knowledgeable in everything Oaxaca and extremely reasonable in his rates!"
(2016) HappyTraveler489 from CA: "He responds very promptly to emails, speaks good English, drives a comfortable car and was knowledgeable about the area. He also had great suggestions for local food and ice cream. We did all the usual sites and both days were about 10 hours long since we were not in a rush. We also used him for our return trip to the airport. I would definitely recommend him. He is not an actual guide but knows the area well."
FYI: On some sites, Jose' is known as "Gregorio" because a reviewer mistook his name from a story Jose' told about his Uncle by that name. A simple mistake that stuck in reviews. It is however, just Jose'.
